The side pockets come straight from military pants: they were placed on the thigh because they're the only ones you can reach while sitting or crouching, and civilian wardrobes adopted them in the nineties without moving them. It's one of the few streetwear details that's still functional as well as decorative.

Ecru is an off-white that looks better than pure white in summer because it doesn't compete with the light. With a plain tee and white sneakers, the whole outfit is sorted.
